An alphabetized guide to all relevant live chat,
ecommerce, and TextChat vocabulary and
their definitions.

Ongoing live chat conversations are called “open” conversations. The analogy of “open” versus “closed” comes from the act of opening and closing the chat window on a business website. When website visitors and customers want to talk to you, they click on the chat widget to expand the chat window. Visually, it’s like they’re opening the chatbox. Then, when the conversation is over, they can X out of the box to shrink it back down, closing it. From your perspective as the live chat agent or TextChat user, you won’t actually see the visuals of your customer opening and closing the website chat window, but you’ll get notified when they open a conversation with you. Inside the TextChat mobile dashboard, you can toggle between viewing all conversations, all currently open conversations, and all closed conversations.
